Virtual Assistant Just Beat Doctor As The Philippines’ Most Wanted Career
For years, doctor sat at the top of every Filipino career wish list. That changed this year.

A new global study puts virtual assistant in the number one spot for the Philippines’ most searched dream job, pushing doctor down to second place. It’s the first time doctor hasn’t topped the list since Remitly started tracking Philippine data in 2022.
How The Numbers Were Tracked
The report comes from Remitly Global Inc., a digital financial services company. Researchers pulled Google searches for phrases like “how to be a…” and “how to become a…” across 145 countries and 424 occupations. The Philippine data covers May 2025 to May 2026.
The Full List, Old Ranks And New
Virtual assistant took the top spot. Doctor came in second, followed by vlogger and lawyer. Actor, astronaut, flight attendant, and diplomat filled out the middle of the list. Content creator and social media manager closed out the top 10, sitting right next to lawyer and doctor on the same list.
Curiosity Is Not A Career Choice
A search is not a decision. HR expert Crissy Rollan points out that typing “how to become a…” into Google reflects interest, not a finished plan. People explore ideas long before they commit to one. The list is closer to a curiosity ranking than a career forecast.
What Employers Should Take From This
Rollan also frames the ranking as a prompt for employers: what is it about VA work that people want, and can that answer show up in other roles too. Not a rhetorical question. She wants businesses to actually go find out.
