The New Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Trailer Is Here
Activision and Infinity Ward revealed a new campaign trailer for “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4” during Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 showcase on September 17. It gives the clearest look yet at the story ahead of the game’s October launch.
A Fugitive Captain
Price became a fugitive after killing General Shepherd at the end of “Modern Warfare III.” Task Force 141 has since been disbanded, and the trailer shows the fallout. Ghost questions whether Price’s methods still have limits, telling him, “There is a line, and it’s one we don’t cross.” Price answers, “We draw the line wherever we need it, don’t we?” Ghost and Gaz are given orders to capture or kill their former captain.
An Unlikely Alliance
Price finds help in a former enemy instead. Valeria Garza, once an adversary, joins him, arguing, “Why sit on the high ground and watch the world burn when we can fight fire with fire?” CIA Station Chief Kate Laswell stays in contact with Price too, though the trailer suggests she’s growing wary of how far he’s willing to go.
A War Without Borders
The trailer centers on an invasion of South Korea and a weapon capable of upending the global order, tied to a new antagonist known as the Archer. The line that closes out the trailer frames the stakes plainly: from Korea to the farthest reaches of the globe, Task Force 141 faces a war with no borders.
Mads Mikkelsen Is The Archer
The trailer’s final moments reveal Mads Mikkelsen playing the antagonist opposite Price. Mikkelsen, known for “Hannibal” and “Death Stranding,” gets one exchange with Price before the trailer ends. “I’m gonna make you cry for mercy,” he says. “When everything and everyone you care for dies in ways you can’t imagine. The things you’re gonna see.” Price answers, “Oh, I’ve seen a lot of things.” The trailer doesn’t name Mikkelsen’s character on screen, but reporting on the reveal widely ties him to the Archer.
When It Releases
“Modern Warfare 4” launches October 23 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Campaign early access starts October 16 for eligible digital pre-orders.
