One Piece Confirms Two New Films, Starting With God Valley

Toei Animation revealed two new theatrical films during the One Piece Day ’26 livestream event on Sunday. One Piece Film God Valley opens in Japan in summer 2027. One Piece Film Baad follows in 2029.

What God Valley Covers

The first film adapts the God Valley Incident, a flashback tied to the Elbaph arc currently airing on television. The story centers on a battle that took place 38 years before the current One Piece timeline, involving the Rocks Pirates, the Roger Pirates, the Marines, and the World Nobles. Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp joined forces against Rocks D. Xebec during the fight. The incident was first referenced in the manga in 2019, in Chapter 957.

The Anniversary Timing

The One Piece manga turns 30 in 2027. The anime reaches its own 30th anniversary on October 20, 2029, the same year Baad arrives. Toei Animation confirmed that the title image for Baad was drawn by Eiichiro Oda himself.

Ending a Four Year Wait

This is the franchise’s first theatrical film since One Piece Film Red premiered in Japan in August 2022. Red drew 1.57 million attendees on its opening weekend and grossed over 2.25 billion yen. It remains the highest grossing film in franchise history. Plot details for Baad have not been released. International release dates for either film are still unconfirmed.
