BTS Sets a New Spotify Record With “Normal”
Spotify confirmed this week that BTS’ “Normal” became the most-streamed K-pop music video within a single day in the platform’s history. The record followed the video’s premiere on July 17.
A Premiere Built for One Platform
“Normal” launched exclusively on Spotify and stayed off other platforms for 48 hours after release. Fans noticed fast. One commenter called the milestone a source of pride for the fandom, while another treated the announcement like a rallying cry for ARMY to keep the momentum going.
What the Camera Catches
Ukrainian filmmaker Tanu Muiño directed the video, following the members through a late night party into the quiet morning that follows. Spotify described the video as a look at what life is like for the artists once they are away from the spotlight, taking a moment for themselves.
One Track From a Bigger Release
“Normal” comes from BTS’ album Arirang, released March 20. The group, made up of RM, Jin, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook, is currently on the road with the Arirang world tour.
Manila Gets Three Nights
The tour will make a stop in the Philippines on March 13, 14, and 16, 2027, with a third show added to the original schedule. It will be BTS’ first Manila show since May 6 and 7, 2017, when the group performed as part of BTS Live Trilogy Episode III: The Wings Tour at Mall of Asia Arena. Before that, BTS staged BTS Live On Stage: Epilogue at the same venue on July 30, 2016, and first met their Filipino fans there on December 7, 2014, during BTS Live Trilogy in Manila: Episode II: The Red Bullet. Member j-hope returned to Manila on his own in April 2025 for his Hope On The Stage concert.
A Bigger Stage First
Before any of that, BTS takes the stage at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19 as one of the headliners of the FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show, alongside Madonna, Justin Bieber, and Shakira.
