Nintendo Just Filled Switch 2’s Release Calendar Through Spring 2027
Nintendo’s September Direct ran about 45 minutes. It did not include a new 3D Mario or Smash Bros reveal. It did confirm release dates for a long list of Switch 2 games.
Two old names, new shape
Metroid Ravenous is the first 2D Metroid since Metroid Dread. It launches January 28, 2027, built around an “eat or be eaten” survival theme that pushes Samus Aran toward her limit.
Kirby and the World Beyond closed the show. It drops Kirby into an open, explorable world and leans on his Copy Abilities for traversal as much as combat. The Spring 2027 release lines up with Kirby’s 35th anniversary.
The games already locked in
Monster Hunter Wilds arrives on Switch 2 December 4, 2026, with local co-op built in. Final Fantasy VII Revelation follows in April 2027, and its prequel, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion, is already available today.
Capcom is bundling the Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 remakes for an October 16, 2026 digital release. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight arrives September 18. Professor Layton and the New World of Steam closes out the year on December 10, with what Nintendo is calling the series’ biggest mystery yet.
Free updates for games you already own
Mario Kart World picked up ten classic Super Mario Kart tracks and two new Knockout Tour routes in a same-day update. Star Fox owners get local four-player split-screen in a free patch, alongside Star Fox Adventures joining the Nintendo Classics library. Pikmin 4’s Switch 2 Edition adds voice commands and a new Dandori Academy mode with dozens of stages, out November 12.
Still open
Persona 6 was confirmed for Switch 2, with no release window given. Persona 4: Revival is coming too, though later than its PC, PS5, and Xbox versions.
