Vernon And DK Head Into Service
SEVENTEEN’s Vernon and DK are the next two members set to begin South Korea’s mandatory military service. PLEDIS Entertainment confirmed the dates in an official statement posted on Weverse on July 27.
Vernon starts his service on August 20, reported as alternative service in the form of a social service agent role. DK will enlist as an active duty soldier in the Army on September 8.
Business As Usual, For Now
Both members will keep taking part in scheduled SEVENTEEN activities right up until their enlistment dates. PLEDIS asked fans to stay away from Vernon’s training center and workplace. The agency made a similar request around DK’s enlistment ceremony, since other recruits and their families will also be present that day.
Fans won’t be left completely without new content either. PLEDIS said prerecorded material will still roll out while both members are serving.
The Bigger Enlistment Picture
Vernon and DK’s announcement extends a staggered timeline that’s been playing out across the group since 2024. Jeonghan began his service that September and was discharged this past June. Wonwoo is currently serving as a social service agent, and Hoshi and Woozi both enlisted as active duty soldiers in September 2025.
Not every member is on this path. Leader S.Coups is exempt due to a knee injury. Joshua, Jun, and THE8 are exempt from Korea’s mandatory service as foreign nationals.
With Vernon and DK’s dates now confirmed, six SEVENTEEN members will have served or be serving by this autumn, part of a broader wave of enlistments the group has been navigating since their 2015 debut.
