Two Brothers on the Podium
Carlos Yulo already has two Olympic gold medals. On Saturday in Zunyi, China, he added an Asian Gymnastics Championships title in floor exercise, scoring 14.700 points to take gold. Standing on the same podium was his younger brother Eldrew, who scored 14.300 to claim bronze.
Japan’s Shoma Tsukiyama finished between them with the silver.
The Philippines sent two brothers home from the same event with medals.
How They Got There
Both Carlos and Eldrew earned their spots in the floor exercise final through the qualifications round. Carlos topped qualifying with a 14.433, and Eldrew came in eighth with 13.600 to make the cut.
Carlos is 26. Eldrew is younger. Both made the final.
What Is Still to Come
The Yulo brothers have also qualified for the horizontal bar finals, where they will compete together again. Carlos has an additional berth in the parallel bars finals.
That means more rounds, more events, and more chances at a repeat of Saturday.
After Paris
Carlos Yulo became the first Filipino gymnast to win Olympic gold. He did it twice at Paris 2024. Now his younger brother is qualifying for finals at Asian level competitions.
Two Filipinos. Same event. Same podium. In China.
Eldrew is not just along for the ride. He qualified on his own numbers.
