Sophia Laforteza Is Taking A Temporary Break From KATSEYE For Her Health
Sophia Laforteza is taking a temporary break from KATSEYE. The group announced the news in a statement posted to Weverse on August 7, saying Laforteza will be unable to join upcoming promotional activities.
The statement, shared by HYBE x Geffen, said Laforteza has been receiving full support from the team. It added that after consultations with medical professionals, she was advised to take dedicated time for rest and ongoing care to ensure a full recovery.
Deadline reports her situation will be reassessed in September.
“Health Has To Come First”
Laforteza shared her own message on her Instagram Story. She wrote that the decision was not easy, but that health has to come first. She said she is learning that if she does not take care of her mind and body now, she will not be able to keep doing what she loves for the long run.
She also thanked fans for their patience and understanding, and said she is committed to healing and coming back stronger.
A Break Ahead Of A Big Week
The announcement lands ahead of KATSEYE’s “WILD” EP, due out August 13, and a fall tour. Laforteza was also absent from the Los Angeles premiere of the “KATSEYE: Wild Hearts” documentary. Bandmate Lara Raj addressed her absence on the carpet, telling Variety she was not feeling well.
Laforteza is the second KATSEYE member to step back this year. Manon Bannerman announced her own hiatus in February.
The Group Moves Forward Without Her, For Now
KATSEYE, which also includes Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, and Yoonchae Jeung, said the wellbeing of its members remains its highest priority. The group has not announced a return date for Laforteza.
