Marvel’s Comic-Con Delivered Two Big Reveals
San Diego Comic-Con is used to noise. Marvel Studios’ Hall H panel produced a specific kind of loud, twice, on the same day.
A New T’Challa Steps Forward
Director Ryan Coogler took the Hall H stage to confirm Black Panther 3, set for December 15, 2028. David Jonsson will play an older version of T’Challa’s son, first introduced as a child in the closing scene of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Coogler confirmed the film will shoot in large format celluloid. Letitia Wright is returning as Shuri, and Winston Duke is back as M’Baku.
Jonsson is a recent breakout, known for Alien: Romulus, The Long Walk, and two seasons of Industry.
Ghost Rider Finally Rides Into the MCU
Later in the panel, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced a new Ghost Rider film for 2028, with Ryan Gosling starring as Johnny Blaze. Shawn Levy, who directed Deadpool & Wolverine, is attached to direct. Jonathan Tropper is writing the script.
Gosling and Levy are currently shooting Star Wars: Starfighter together. Levy told the Hall H crowd the two spent downtime on that set talking through Ghost Rider ideas. Taking the stage, Gosling said, “As you know, this is a character I’ve wanted to play for a very long time.”
Marvel has not released additional casting or plot details for either film beyond what was shared at the panel.
