Three entries, three categories

The eight-member group is entered in Best Asian Pop Music Performance with “Unang Kilig.” “A Parallel World” is entered in Best Song Written for Visual Media. BINI is also entered as an act in Best New Artist. Fans have welcomed the news.

Jonathan Manalo discussed the submissions in a recent interview. He is the head of content, creatives, and operations at ABS-CBN and a Recording Academy voting member.

Early reports differ. One names all three entries. Another lists two categories and calls the Asian pop track unconfirmed. This article uses the more detailed report.

A new category for Asian pop

Best Asian Pop Music Performance debuts at the 69th Grammy Awards. The Recording Academy announced the category in June. It covers P-pop, K-pop, J-pop, and C-pop recordings.

“Unang Kilig” came out March 5, 2026. It sits on the Signals EP, released April 9. Jhoanna has said the title points to the first stage of being in love.

A film song on the list

“A Parallel World” is BINI’s original song for DreamWorks Animation’s Forgotten Island, released July 23, 2026. It is electronic pop with English and Filipino lyrics, and all eight members sing on it. The theme is friendship.

It is BINI’s first original song for a Hollywood film. Nathan Matthew David and Shawn Wasabi wrote and produced it.

A busy 2026

The single came out in March and the EP in April. Coachella came in April too, with BINI as the first homegrown Filipino act on that stage. The film song followed in July.

BINI has been on the Recording Academy’s website before, in a 2024 list of rising girl groups and a 2025 New Music Friday feature. SB19 also submitted entries, including “VISA” in the same Asian pop category.

What comes next

Submitting an entry is the first step. First-round voting runs October 12 to October 22, and nominees are announced November 16. Final-round voting runs December 10 to January 7. The 69th Grammy Awards air February 7, 2027, from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
