Alex Eala Is Set for Her Return to Flushing Meadows

Alex Eala is heading back to the US Open.

The Filipina tennis standout has been included in the official entry list for the 2026 US Open, set for August 30 to September 13 in Flushing Meadows, New York.

Eala is ranked No. 29 in the list of confirmed direct entries released by the United States Tennis Association. Seedings and the full draw will be revealed during Slam week.

She joins a field that includes defending champion Aryna Sabalenka, along with Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff, Mirra Andreeva, and Iga Swiatek. Top-ranked Jannik Sinner headlines the men’s side of the draw.

This will mark Eala’s second main draw appearance at the US Open. Last year, she made history by winning her first Grand Slam main draw match, defeating Clara Tauson.

Coming Off Wimbledon

The entry comes on the back of a strong run at Wimbledon, where Eala reached the Round of 16, becoming the first Filipina to do so. The result pushed her to a new career-best WTA ranking of No. 28 after gaining 240 points.

Speaking with The STAR after returning home, Eala said she wants to advance as far as she can, though she’s approaching the tournament match by match, with winning as the goal she’s always chasing.

Sharpening the Game Plan

Before New York, Eala is easing back into competition on the North American hard-court swing. She opens at the Mubadala DC Open in Washington, D.C., running July 27 to August 2, where she’ll play both singles and doubles.

In doubles, she reunites with Venus Williams after the pair received a wildcard entry. The two first paired up last month at the Bad Homburg Open in Germany, reaching the quarterfinals before falling to Olivia Nicholls and Tereza Mihalikova.

For Eala, the road to Flushing Meadows starts one match at a time, on courts an ocean away from where her Wimbledon breakthrough happened weeks ago.
