Alex Eala Becomes the New Face of Tennis for Marriott Bonvoy
Marriott Bonvoy has named Filipino tennis player Alex Eala the face of its “Tennis The World” campaign across Asia Pacific, excluding China. The partnership links the loyalty program’s travel benefits to Eala’s rise on the WTA Tour. Financial terms and the length of the agreement were not disclosed.
John Toomey, Chief Commercial Officer for Marriott International’s Asia Pacific excluding China region, said the company is thrilled to welcome Eala to the Bonvoy family. He pointed to her breakthrough WTA title and recent wins over some of the world’s best players as reasons the brand sees her as a natural fit for the campaign.
Eala framed the deal around what travel has already given her career. “Travel has always been such a meaningful part of my journey as a tennis player,” she said, adding that competing across different countries has meant new places, new people, and memories that stay with her long after a match ends.
A Season Built On Big Wins
The 21 year old enters this partnership fresh off her first career WTA Tour title. She beat Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 in a rain delayed final at the Mubadala DC Open in Washington, a win that also carried her from No. 28 to No. 20 in the WTA rankings, a new career high. She is now the highest ranked Filipino player in WTA Tour history. That kind of climb is why brands are paying attention. Eala is not just a rising player anymore. She is becoming one of the most recognizable young athletes in the region.
What Bonvoy Members Get Out of It
The campaign builds on Marriott Bonvoy’s role as Official Hotel Partner of the Australian Open, a partnership now in its sixth year. As part of the tie in, Bonvoy members got early access to Australian Open 2027 ticket presales through Ticketmaster before the general public. The 2027 tournament runs January 11 to 31 at Melbourne Park.
Marriott Bonvoy says this is only the start. The company is planning more member experiences tied to the campaign in the months ahead, including chances to meet Eala in person around future tennis events.
The Bigger Picture for Eala
For a player who grew up traveling for nearly every tournament, turning that reality into a partnership makes sense. It is one more sign that her career is moving past just rankings and results into the kind of recognition that opens doors off the court too.
