Spider-Man Crosses a Billion Pesos

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed 1 billion pesos in the Philippines, reaching the milestone in just 12 days. Columbia Pictures Philippines confirmed the film grossed P1,055,450,903 during its second weekend in theaters.

The film opened on July 29. It earned P95.9 million on its opening day, the biggest single day gross any Spider-Man film has posted in the country. By its fifth day it had already crossed half a billion pesos, the biggest five day total the franchise has ever posted here.

A New Place in PH Box Office History

According to CBO Channel, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now the third highest grossing movie of all time in the Philippines, passing Rewind, Frozen 2, and Beauty and the Beast. Other outlets are more cautious here, noting there is no definitive all time box office ranking for the Philippines. What sources do agree on is that only Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame have grossed more than the film in the country, with Endgame still holding the record.

A cinema in Mandaluyong City remains the top earning theater nationwide, pulling in P23,193,075 on its own. The film is currently showing in more than 600 theaters across the country, including ScreenX, 3D/4DX, and other specialty formats.

Part of a Global Run

The Philippine numbers track with what the film is doing everywhere else. Brand New Day already set a new global opening weekend record in North America, earning $360 million and passing Avengers: Endgame’s $357 million from 2019. Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker, alongside Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned, in a story set four years after the memory wipe in Far From Home.

Columbia Pictures has not said how long the film will keep running in Philippine theaters.
