Two songs, two categories

Sony Music Philippines confirmed the submission of “VISA.” Billboard has also named the song as a potential contender in the new Asian pop category.

A submission is not a nomination. It means the songs are formally in front of the Recording Academy, and Billboard Philippines describes the entries as submitted for consideration to be nominated.

A new category with a lot of room

Best Asian Pop Music Performance debuts at the 69th Grammy Awards on February 7, 2027. It is one of five new categories the Recording Academy announced in June. It recognizes Asian pop recordings from P-pop, K-pop, J-pop, and C-pop.

BINI also entered the race. The group is up for Best New Artist, Best Asian Pop Music Performance for “Unang Kilig,” and Best Song Written for Visual Media for “A Parallel World.”

A year that was already moving

SB19 was the first homegrown Filipino act to perform at Lollapalooza 2026. In July, they performed “Gento” and “Wakas” at the Grammy Museum. They are also set to play the KPOPWORLD Festival in Texas as the only Filipino act on the lineup.

At home, the Filipino Music Awards 2026 gave the group three trophies. They won Concert of the Year for the Wakas at Simula: The Trilogy Concert Finale. They also took People’s Choice Artist and People’s Choice Song for “VISA.”

What stays in their hands

In their post, SB19 thanked fans for believing in them and said they want to keep championing Filipino music on the global stage. That is a long game. A Grammy submission is one step in it, and the voting is now out of the group’s hands.

What stays in their hands is the next release and the next stage. That is the intentional-living part of this story: you do the work in front of you, and you let the decision-makers do theirs.

The dates to watch

First-round voting runs October 12 to 22, 2026. Nominees will be announced on November 16. Final-round voting runs December 10, 2026 to January 7, 2027. The ceremony is on February 7, 2027.
