MrBeast Got Married. He Kept Almost All of It Off Camera.
Jimmy Donaldson, known online as MrBeast, announced this week that he married Thea Booysen. The couple shared the news on Instagram with a set of wedding photos, and Donaldson captioned the post “I found MrsBeast, and it was the best day of my life.”
The wedding happened on Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands, the private island owned by Richard Branson. About 70 guests were there, spread across several days on the island starting mid-July.
A Private Life, Kept Private
Donaldson had said for months that the wedding wouldn’t look like anything else he makes. Back in January, he told Entertainment Tonight that his relationship was one of the few parts of his life he keeps off camera, even though he films almost every day for his channel. That held. The ceremony wasn’t streamed, filmed, or turned into a video.
How They Met
Donaldson and Booysen met in 2022, when Donaldson traveled to South Africa, Booysen’s home country. A mutual friend introduced them over dinner. He proposed on Christmas Day in 2024, in a moment built around both of their families. Booysen later told People that the proposal happened during gift-opening, with both sets of parents watching.
The Details
Booysen wore a custom design from Nicole + Felicia Couture. Donaldson wore Ralph Lauren. Their first dance was to “Die With a Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars.
The Bigger Picture
Donaldson is YouTube’s most subscribed creator, having passed 500 million subscribers on his main channel in June. He also hosts Beast Games and founded the snack brand Feastables. None of that showed up in the wedding. It was just family, and an island.
