A New Stop On The Map: NMP-Baler Opens Its Doors
Baler now has a National Museum of its own.
The National Museum of the Philippines (NMP) opened its newest regional component museum in Baler, Aurora, with an official inauguration on June 30. The Department of Tourism (DOT) congratulated the NMP for the milestone.
NMP-Baler is the first component museum in Central Luzon. It brings the total number of National Museums across the country to 22.
What’s Inside
The museum’s galleries cover Aurora’s history, cultural traditions, biodiversity, and artistic heritage. Visitors will also find exhibitions on the Philippines’ historical ties with Spain, along with selected works from the National Fine Arts Collection.
Part Of A Bigger Push
NMP-Baler is part of the National Museum’s ongoing effort to make its collections, programs, and services more accessible to communities across the archipelago.
The Inauguration
The opening coincided with the observance of the 24th Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day. First Son Vincent Marcos attended, along with officials from the Philippine government, representatives from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in the Philippines, and institutional partners.
