Filipino Athletes Thriving in Different Sports
Iñigo Anton, Margielyn Didal and Raph Trinidad compete in different sports. Each has an international result to point to.

Anton started early
Iñigo Anton has raced since he was 10. At 12, he broke the Tarlac Circuit Hill lap record. In 2022, he won overall titles in the Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup, the Radical Challenge and the Philippine Grand Touring Championship.
In 2025, he entered his first Formula 4 tournament, the F4 South East Asia series, driving car No. 33 for BlackArts Racing. He won the Rookie Cup and finished third overall. He missed the final race with an illness and still held the top spot in the rookie class.
After winning the title, he said, “I’m proud to represent the Philippines and show the world what we’re capable of.”

Didal went to the Asian Games and the Olympics
Margielyn Didal was born on April 19, 1999, in Cebu City. In 2018, she won gold in women’s street skateboarding at the Asian Games. She also competed at the X Games that year, the first athlete to formally represent the Philippines there.
At the Tokyo Olympics, she reached the women’s street final and finished 7th.

Trinidad picked wakeboarding at 12
Raph Trinidad is from Liloan, Cebu. He started out playing football like his father, who played professionally. At 12, he chose wakeboarding instead.
In 2019, he won silver at the World Cable Wakeboard Championships in Buenos Aires, his first senior international medal. He also has two more world championship medals, a silver and a bronze, and nine national titles.
In August 2025, he was one of the Philippines’ flag bearers at the opening ceremony of The World Games in Chengdu. It was his debut at the Games. In the men’s cable wakeboarding heats, he posted the second-best score, 80.20, behind France’s Loic Deschaux at 80.40. Trinidad names himself as his main rival.
