Xbox Adds a Platinum Trophy Rival: Mythic Achievements
Xbox has a new completion reward coming, the Mythic Achievement, reportedly built as its version of PlayStation’s Platinum Trophy. Multiple outlets tracking the leak, citing a TrueAchievements report, say players will earn it by finishing every achievement on a game’s base list, with DLC and expansions excluded. Microsoft has not officially announced the feature.
Fifteen Seconds to Celebrate
The reward is expected to come with its own animation and sound effect, lasting close to 15 seconds. Xbox content creator Klobrille first spotted the icon and unlock sound inside a recent Xbox PC app update. The badge is a green, star-shaped emblem wrapped in a laurel design, built to look nothing like a standard achievement.
Zero Gamerscore, by Design
Per TrueAchievements’ reporting, Mythic Achievements won’t add to a player’s Gamerscore and will run on their own tracker, separate from a profile’s regular achievement count, with DLC carrying no weight toward it. Games that qualify are expected to get a visual refresh too: a green border, star, and laurel mark on the cover art inside the Gaming tab. The system is also expected to work retroactively, crediting the badge to anyone who already finished a game’s base achievements before launch, without requiring a replay.
A Rollout Timed With Layoffs
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma teased the feature back in August, posting that the team was working on “something for later this year.” The badge’s expected arrival lands the same week Xbox confirmed a new round of cuts: 268 roles eliminated, Halo’s next game moving to a newly formed Activision team, and Playground Games merging with Turn 10 to cover both Forza and Fable.
