Philippines’ first National Cinema Day brings ₱100 movie tickets this Saturday
This Saturday, September 12, marks the Philippines’ first-ever National Cinema Day. Regular 2D cinemas nationwide will drop ticket prices to ₱100 for whatever films are already scheduled that day. The event is organized by the Cinema Exhibitors Association of the Philippines (CEAP), together with the Film Academy of the Philippines, the Film Development Council of the Philippines, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board, and the Metro Manila Film Festival through the MMDA, per Philstar. CEAP has described it as a nationwide invitation to bring back the shared experience of watching films on the big screen, per Manila Republic.
What ₱100 buys you
The discount covers all local and international films already booked for screening that day in Regular 2D cinemas. Premium formats like 3D, 4DX, Screen X, IMAX, Directors Club, and other specialty screenings are excluded, per Philstar.

More than 100 cinemas nationwide are joining, spanning Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Major chains taking part include Ayala Malls Cinemas, SM Cinema, Robinsons Movieworld, Cinema 2000, Vista Cinemas, Megaworld Cinemas, and Citymall Cinemas, per Rolling Stone Philippines. Participating malls also include Power Plant Mall, Alabang Town Center, Sta. Lucia Mall in Cainta, Island Central in Mactan, Island City Mall in Tagbilaran, Alturas Mall, Sta. Lucia Mall Davao, NCCC Mall Davao, Geege Mall in Ozamiz, and KCC Mall de Zamboanga, per the same report.

Advance ticket sales opened September 10 at 10 a.m. through cinema box offices, official websites, mobile apps, and authorized ticketing platforms, per Manila Bulletin. Seats are limited by theater capacity, so tickets are sold first come, first served, per Manila Republic.
