Gandang Gabi Vice Returns, This Time on GMA
Vice Ganda’s late-night talk show is coming back after six years off air, and it picked an unexpected new home. “Gandang Gabi Vice” (GGV) premieres September 13, airing on GMA Network, Kapamilya Channel, and streaming platform iWant, which will carry the full, uncut episodes.
Nine Years on One Couch
GGV first aired on ABS-CBN’s Yes Weekend lineup on May 22, 2011, and ran for nearly nine years before its final episode on March 8, 2020. The show built its identity around Vice Ganda’s interviews, comedy segments, and games with a rotating cast of celebrity guests.
A Rival Network Says Yes
ABS-CBN chief operating officer Cory Vidanes confirmed the comeback during the company’s stockholders’ meeting on August 19. “The new season, will come back next month on GMA, iWant, and Kapamilya Channel,” she said. GGV has never aired on GMA-7 before, and this run lands in the network’s Sunday 10 p.m. slot. GMA has aired ABS-CBN-produced shows before, a pattern that started after ABS-CBN lost its broadcast franchise in 2020. GGV is the first time this particular show has made that crossover.
The Guest Wishlist
Vice has already named who she wants on the couch first. “My energy has gone up again,” she said, adding that Kapuso stars are now within reach in a way they weren’t before. Michael V., Marian Rivera, and Alden Richards are on her list, guests who would have been unlikely bookings on the old ABS-CBN version of the show.
Part of a Wider Deal
The GGV crossover follows a separate two-year content agreement Vice signed with MediaQuest Holdings, the Manuel V. Pangilinan-led group behind TV5 and Cignal TV, on August 12. MVP Group chairman Manny Pangilinan, whose media arm owns MediaQuest, gave her the honorary title “Queen of All Networks” at the signing. Specific projects under that deal have not been announced.
