‘Forgotten Island’ Leads Liza Soberano and H.E.R. Drop In on a Save the Children Screening

A group of children supported by Save the Children Philippines settled into their seats at SM Aura in Taguig on August 25 for an early screening of DreamWorks Animation’s “Forgotten Island.” Liza Soberano and H.E.R. walked in with them.

The two actors voice the film’s leads, best friends Raissa and Jo. Directors Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado joined the surprise visit. The screening was organized by DreamWorks Animation and Universal Pictures for children supported by Save the Children Philippines, an organization that has worked in the country for more than four decades.

A world built from Filipino folklore

“Forgotten Island” follows Jo and Raissa, best friends since grade school, on the night before they go separate ways after high school. A portal pulls them into Nakali, an island shaped by Filipino mythology. The Dreaded Manananggal, voiced by Tony winner Lea Salonga, and a weredog named Raww, voiced by Dave Franco, are among the creatures they meet there.

A cause both actors already knew

Soberano has served as a Save the Children ambassador and has advocated for children’s welfare for years. H.E.R. has supported initiatives focused on marginalized communities. The Taguig stop was part of the “Tayo Na, Philippines!” promotional tour for the film. Soberano and H.E.R. also held a media session and a fan event in Pasay City earlier the same day.
